Macho intelectual/Intellectual Macho is a music clip that parodies gender roles and the intentions of artists in art education and the art world.
Through a performative masquerade INVASORIX and friends reenact to a catchy cumbia beat fourteen seminal photos of artists’ groups from the 20th century—such as Neo-Concretismo Brasileño, Die Bruecke, ASCO, Abstract Expressionism—shot in front of public and private art institutions—such as Museo Tamayo, Casa Vecina, Gallery OMR, Pinto Mi Raya—in Mexico City.
In 2016, Macho intelectual was awarded the 1st prize in the category ACTIVISMO of the FEM TOUR TRUCK Festival Internacional de Videoarte Feminista.
MACHO INTELECTUAL was part of the exhibitions All Byte: Feminist Intersections in Video Art, curated by Terri C. Smith, Franklin Street Works, Stamford (USA) in 2016; Gold in a Minefield, curated by Lilian Bado, Galeria 13, São Paulo (BR) and Rebellion, curated by Minna Hendriksson, Galleria Katko, Tampere (FIN) in 2015, among others.
