Les phénix séances
The phoenix sequence

Temporary public intervention in Bobigny (F)
in collaboratin with José Arnaud and Eduardo Thomas
October 2006

Already existing movies, images, sounds, texts and ideas are to be reinterpreted, represented under the parameters of our work. We shared work that has influenced and enriched our approach and put it in contact with the social, political and historic context of Paris’ Banliue Bobigny. In this way while we challenge ownership and consumption in an economy, as we see it, of over-production by making available the work of others; we also challenge the work itself, ist sedimented meaning and objectivity. Both the presented work and the recipient context are to be changed and a new reading will emerge. The content of the work presented as much as our mode of making itavailable are deliberately selected to expose these sites on the suburbs of Paris with other types of marginality. By dealing with the edges of the ‘state of things’ and their implication with
what isdefined as legal we aim to find their blurring zones, flight points, cracks and leaks.

La Société du spectacle - Guy Debord, Black panthers - Agnès Varda , The weather underground - Sam Green and Bill Siegel, La Tour infernale - John Guillermin and Irwin Allen, La commune (Paris 1871) - Peter Watkins

were projected, at dusk, on a wall of the Cite Hector Berlieu. People from the neighborhood got the opportunity to watch this selection dealing in different levels with "fire" and/or"community struggle". On the other hand the moving images altered the everyday environment next to the Pizzeria „La Mama“ creating a 'new' image.
